In brief: A commercial (vending) massage chair is a fully automated solution that generates passive income in high-traffic facilities. Unlike home models, a business-grade chair must feature universal ergonomics, high wear resistance, and intuitive operation. Combining the Momento chair by Sidora with the Nayax cashless payment and telemetry system allows for remote price management, unattended sales, and protection against unauthorized occupancy via the Smart Seat system.
________
A massage chair equipped with a coin acceptor, banknote reader, or payment terminal is one of the most popular business models in the vending/self-service category.
Such a business is highly profitable due to factors including no need to hire staff to operate the device, a high service margin, and low operating costs for the chair.
Furthermore, it offers customers what they miss the most: a moment of relaxation.
Can every massage chair become a vending chair? The key here is choosing the right device for the specific nature of a given business.
Why a vending chair, and not an "ordinary" massage chair with a coin acceptor or terminal?
A vending chair faces slightly different challenges than an "ordinary" massage chair.
Above all, it must accommodate many users with different body types: tall, short, slim, and heavy-set.
It must also operate continuously to handle many massage cycles with practically no breaks between them.
Due to the fact that it serves various users, it must be very simple to operate so that no one has trouble starting a massage.
The final element of a well-selected commercial massage chair is a payment system adapted to the preferences and capabilities of the customers. Nowadays, fewer people carry cash—therefore, a vending chair should have a built-in terminal, especially if it is located in a place visited by customers from various countries (e.g., an airport).
At the same time, it should also work with a coin or banknote acceptor so that every customer can pay in a way convenient for them.
We took all these factors, as well as many others, into account when designing the Momento commercial massage chair.
Momento – the perfect vending chair for a relaxation zone, shopping mall, or hotel.
The Momento model is the answer to all the requirements and challenges that the realities of the vending business place on a massage chair.
This model can accommodate tall and large users, while also providing a good massage for petite or short people.
Enclosed sides provide a sense of privacy during the massage – the user is shielded, allowing them to feel at ease and relax more easily.
The chair's upholstery is made of a durable, dirt-resistant material. It is also aesthetically pleasing and pleasant to the touch. Its surface (both the seat and the casing) should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth without aggressive detergents. If necessary, it can be wiped with a surface disinfectant.
The chair is designed for continuous operation and does not require maintenance services. Detailed warranty terms are determined with the investor individually, tailored to their needs—depending on the specific working conditions of the chair and its location. The device also meets safety requirements.
The Momento massage chair is simple to operate. The user can choose a full-body massage or a neck and shoulder massage. They also have the option to select one of three compression intensity levels in the calves and forearms area. The massage can be paused or reset at any time.
The device can work simultaneously with a terminal and a coin acceptor (or just one system). It also has a way of dealing with customers who occupy the seat without intending to purchase a massage.
Smart Seat system – protection against seat "squatting"
In shopping malls, we often encounter people—both adults and children—who sit on the massage chairs but do not purchase a massage. They block the space for those interested in purchasing a massage, thereby reducing revenue.
A commercial massage chair should be prepared for such situations.
The Momento chair generates a voice message asking the user to purchase a massage or vacate the chair. If there is no reaction from the customer, the chair begins to lift the seat at an angle in such a way that the person sitting slides off the chair. Therefore, it is impossible to occupy the chair without having purchased a massage.
Cashless payments and telemetry: What does the Nayax system offer in a vending chair?
Integrating the massage chair with the Nayax system transforms a standard self-service device into a fully automated, remotely controlled passive income point. A key advantage of the platform is advanced telemetry and the ability to manage the chair's parameters remotely (via the Nayax Core panel or the MoMa mobile app), without the need for a physical visit to the location.
From the control panel, you can set:
- massage price and duration – this allows for flexible rate changes and instant modifications to the offer;
- payment methods – you can enable or disable individual payment forms (contactless cards, BLIK, mobile payments, pre-paid cards, e.g., employee cards);
-
discount codes and loyalty campaigns – this feature allows for the generation of single or multi-use vouchers;
-
alerts and notifications – informing, for example, about power outages, malfunctions, or acts of vandalism.
You can also start the chair remotely.
The Nayax system gives the investor full flexibility in managing the service.
Power consumption of the Momento commercial massage chair
The Momento massage chair has a power consumption of around 110W. This value is comparable to the electricity consumption of a traditional light bulb or a small LED TV.
The operating costs of the Momento chair are therefore objectively very low.
Assuming an average electricity price in Poland of approx. PLN 1.15 per 1 kWh (gross, including distribution fees), one 10-minute massage cycle costs just approx. 2 groszy (PLN 0.02).
For the chair to consume 1 kWh of electricity (costing PLN 1.15), it would have to work non-stop for approx. 9 hours (i.e., perform as many as 54 10-minute massage cycles).
In standby mode, the chair with an active telemetry system consumes about 2W.
The cost of a day in standby mode is therefore PLN 0.055, and a full month of readiness for work is PLN 1.65.
