What is statistically the most common human ailment? The back, of course – there is likely no element of surprise here.
Back pain accounts for as much as 96% of pain ailments that plague Poles. Following closely are leg pains (85%), followed immediately by neck pain (79%).
What is the cause of back pain? The spine is made up of various "elements," and in principle, any of them can be the source of pain. Here we have a whole range of possibilities: congenital or acquired conditions, overexertion, improper posture, a sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity, or an unsuitable mattress for sleeping.

Is it possible to prevent these ailments, and once they strike, to effectively deal with them?
It is. That is exactly what back massage devices, or if you prefer, spine massage devices, are for.

Do spine massage devices massage the spine?

Let's start with the most important thing. "Spine massage device" is a conventional name. We do not massage the spine itself, but the so-called paraspinal muscles. What are these muscles? They are the structures that surround the spine and move it.
For our spine to function properly and to be able to regenerate, it must be mechanically efficient, meaning the paraspinal muscles must be flexible, strong, and well-coordinated. A proper massage will support them in this.

What do back massage devices offer?

Tight paraspinal muscles are a common cause of pain. A good solution in such a case is a massage, for example, on a back massage mat.

All massage mats from the Quattromed series perform a massage using the Shiatsu technique. This is a combination of kneading and rolling. This type of massage allows you to remove tension and make the muscles more flexible.

An additional advantage of the mats is the jade heating function. Heating itself has a relaxing effect on the muscles, while the heated jade generates far-infrared radiation that penetrates deep into the muscles, relaxing their deepest structures.

Let us remember that our body does not recognize individual muscles, but whole groups that perform a specific movement. It is therefore important to massage the muscles along the entire spine rather than focusing only on the spot that hurts. This should be kept in mind especially when using smaller back massage devices, such as a massage pillow.

Back massage tools - a handy alternative

There are situations when we really need a back massage but do not have a mat available – for example, because we are away from home and do not have access to a power source.
In such situations, various types of smaller back massage tools will prove helpful, such as the Tappymed III handheld massager or the MediGunPRO muscle gun.

Another good solution is to use a MioMat acupressure mat - it is very effective in relieving muscle tension and soothing back pain.

If you struggle with back pain, it is worth getting a suitable massage device. Remember also to strengthen your abdominal muscles, among others – their weakness causes excessive tension in the back muscles. Our body is a complex mechanism that must be approached holistically. A physiotherapist or osteopath will certainly show you how to do this correctly.
In the meantime, we provide professional advice on choosing the best massage device for your ailments.
