2D, 3D, and 4D massage in massage chairs is a topic that intrigues you the most.
How do massage robots work in specific techniques (2D, 3D, 4D), and what exactly sets them apart from one another?

We have therefore decided to explain how these mechanisms function, describe their operation, and the massage personalization options they provide.

2D massage in massage chairs

The term 2D stands for two dimensions. In chairs with a 2D massage mechanism, the massage robot moves in two planes, which are: height (up-down movement) and width (left-right movements).

In massage chairs with a 2D mechanism, massage intensity is increased by speeding up the operation of the massage heads (rollers).

Massage chairs with a 2D mechanism include: Alphasonic 2, Betasonic 2, and Higher Smart.

3D massage in massage chairs

The term 3D stands for three dimensions. In massage chairs with a 3D mechanism, the massage robot moves in three planes, which are: height (up-down), width (left-right), and depth, i.e., forward-backward movement.
By adding the third dimension, the rollers perfectly adapt to the curvature of the spine, extending in the lumbar section and retracting in the thoracic section.
As a result, the massage feels deceptively similar to a manual massage performed by the skilled hands of a massage therapist.

In manual programs, the 3D function allows you to set the pressure force on the massaged area (intensity).
Some models also allow you to control the speed of the rollers massaging the back.

Massage chairs with a 3D mechanism include: Titan, Skyliner II, Alphasonic III, Hilton III.

4D massage in massage chairs

What does the fourth dimension mean? In massage chairs with a 4D mechanism, the rollers move in up-down, side-to-side, and forward-backward planes, and furthermore, they work at a variable speed, imitating the work of a massage therapist's thumbs.
Thanks to 4D technology, the massage feels even more "human."

The 4D mechanism also allows for "deepening" the 3D function - we can manually set the pressure intensity of the massage rollers (i.e., their positioning in the forward-backward plane) not only in manual programs but also in automatic massage programs. However, keeping user safety in mind, in manual programs, when the 4D massage mechanism is in the cervical, lumbar, or thoracic section, the massage intensity is adjusted automatically, which allows for a more optimal, yet safe, pressure on the massaged area.

The massage chair with a 4D mechanism is Aura and Skyliner III.

Now you know all the secrets of 2D, 3D, and 4D mechanisms. We believe that this will make choosing the perfect massage chair easier ;)
